Philanthropy

The NCAC’s many activities have generated nearly $400,000 to support university initiatives and a variety of scholarship and internship opportunities for DC-area students attending WVU.

John and Lucy Nicholas – NCAC Scholarship Fund

Established in 1988 by the NCAC, this scholarship is named in honor John and Lucy Nicholas, two devoted and lifelong supporters of West Virginia University, who selflessly gave their time, talent, and treasure to promoting WVU in the Washington, DC area. Learn more about the couple’s invaluable contributions and how prospective deserving scholarship recipients may apply for consideration.

WVU Loyalty Permanent Endowment Fund 2.0

The NCAC was the first WVU Alumni Chapter to support the WVU Foundation’s launch of the 2.0 Fund, pledging annual support for the fund which is designated for recipients in the WVU Scholars program. The NCAC’s contributions, which most recently totaled $9,000 in an annual gift, are matched dollar-for-dollar by another source.

WVU Alumni Foundation Internship Program

DC-area WVU students may apply to work at the WVU Alumni Foundation and receive financial support for their efforts, while also learning about the importance of alumni engagement with their alma mater and assisting the Foundation with its important work of creating a greater Mountaineer community among alumni.

Mountaineer Athletic Club

The Washington, DC area is a vital recruiting area for WVU athletic teams, and the NCAC generates funds to support scholarship opportunities for student-athletes from the DMV to attend and represent WVU.
All of WVU NCAC’s scholarships – along with everything else we do – is made possible though your participation and support. Since WVU NCAC is a registered non-profit (501(c)(3)) all or a portion of your donation may be tax deductable. Please email us at info@wvualumni.org to learn more.
