“The Alabama Crimson Tide hit low tide early in its 2014 season, as the West Virginia Mountaineers recorded perhaps the greatest opening day win in the university’s storied football history, smashing second-ranked Alabama 31-20 in the Georgia Dome. In a battle of former Florida State quarterbacks, Clint Trickett soundly outplayed Jake Coker, throwing for 316 yards and four touchdowns, leading the Mountaineers to an eye-opening win on the season’s first Saturday afternoon.”
Who says it’s can’t happen? And you need to be with fellow Mountaineers to see it! The WV NCAC is sponsoring a couple of watch parties for this Saturday’s game with Alabama, as the Gold and Blue faithful will be welcomed at the customary watch site, Ragtime in Arlington, as well as MadHatter at DuPont Circle in DC. We’ll be hosting game watch parties at both establishments throughout the football and basketball seasons, which usually feature raffle drawings and prize giveaways, as well as a full slate of drink and food specials.
While Ragtime is finalizing its “Mountaineer menu”, MadHatter has come up an impressive opening day line-up, including:
$3 Miller Lite and Coors Light Bottles
$3 Yuengling Drafts
$10 Pitchers of Miller Lite
$15 Blue Moon Pitchers
$5 Selected Appetizer specials
$15 Bucket of Miller or Coors light bottles
After all wins the group will also receive $3 Rails for 2 hours
Television coverage begins at 3:30 pm, Saturday afternoon, so get there early and plan to stay late to celebrate the first win of the season. After all, the story’s already been written.
