Alumni Sports
Do you live in the DC area? Are you interested in playing co-ed sports with fellow WVU Alumni? Well, CAN (Capital Alumni Network) and NCAC allows you to do just that! WVU alumni have proudly been involved for years with nearly consecutive year round activity!
Veteran WVU teams are involved in all of the CAN sports to date; The Softball team plays from the end of April until the end of July with the two-day tournament in mid August. The Flag Football team starts gearing up at the beginning of September with the season ending with a two-day tournament in early January. And in mid-January the Volleyball team and Basketball team start their seasons which run until mid March with a two-day tournament at the end of March.
All games for Softball are played on the Mall in DC near the Washington Monument weather permitting while Flag Football games are played on the Ellipse and in Anacostia Park in DC in all kinds of weather. Volleyball is played at The National Cathedral School in DC and Basketball is played in the gyms of Alexandria City schools. While Softball and Flag Football are free, there’s a fee associated with Volleyball and Basketball due to the gym use.
The WVU alumni teams are always interested in new dedicated rookies to join the various teams and would love support from other fellow alumnus that would like to be a part of their cheering section!
