MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia University Director of Athletics Ed
Pastilong has announced today the 2010 football schedule, highlighted by
seven home games, four national television appearances and an attractive
non-conference slate.
“We are pleased with this year’s schedule,” Pastilong says.
“There are seven home games, which always is good for our fan base.
We have four national television games already slated, which gives our
football program outstanding exposure. The non-conference schedule will
be very challenging once again, but it gives our team a chance to
compete against teams from the ACC, Conference USA, Mountain West and
SEC.”
The Mountaineers open the 2010 schedule on Saturday, Sept. 4, at home
against Coastal Carolina. Other home games are against Maryland, UNLV,
USF, Syracuse, Cincinnati and Rutgers. The Syracuse game will be
designated as the Homecoming game on the WVU campus, while Cincinnati
will be part of Mountaineer Week festivities.
Four games already are slated for national television. USF will be
aired on ESPN, UConn on ESPN2 and Pitt and Rutgers will be on either
ESPN, ESPN2 or ABC. The Mountaineers’ road games are at Marshall, LSU,
Connecticut, Louisville and Pitt.
“I really like the way our schedule is put together,” WVU football
coach Bill Stewart says. “The mix of road and home games makes it an
attractive schedule and gives our fans two home games in September,
three in October and one in November and December. Our schedule is very
challenging, but I believe our fans will enjoy it.”
